From teacher Marta, Preschool Class.

Although I’ve been using the Zoo-phonics materials for a while I recently attended their workshop. I had so much fun! I can’t say enough about what a great program it is.

Zoo-phonics is a method developed using a “phono” (hearing), “oral” (speaking), “visual” (seeing), “kinesthetic” (moving), and “tactile” (touching)—whole brain approach.

They incorporate animals drawn in the shapes of the letters so the children are engaged and retain what they learn. A related body movement is given for each letter. This approach allows the children to relate the sounds to the shapes of the letters.

I’m also really impressed with the multisensory aspects of the program. It is a kinesthetic, multi-modal approach to learning all aspects of language arts, including vocabulary development and articulation.

I have a five year old daughter that started to attend Little Acorns Grow when she was 18 months old until she was four and a half. While sitting in a car, she would look around and noticing different letters she would say for example “C” k,k, Catina Cat. Or she would go through the whole alphabet and tell me all the letters phonetically using Zoo Phonics. My daughter is in Kindergarten now and she is one of the first kids that can read. It really showed me the importance of phonetic awareness in the reading process and I’m very sure that the Zoo Phonics program helped my daughter to be a successful early reader.
